Hugo Shebeare: Tabarka is a very beautiful town on the coast of Tunisia, very close to the Algerian border. There`s a very old Genoan fort there from the days of the Hanseatic League (I believe). I dove just by the fort in long tunnel like caves, but was a little disappointed since so many divers had warn away most of the coral. The city is very wealthy and many Europeans are settling here as a great alternative to more expensive Northern Med. Eastern part of town is growing like crazy with new hotels thanks to large visiting groups of Germans. The Mountains to the South are a great place to visit and a good source of Cork (cork trees). El Kef, to the south, is a great place to visit also (spectacular kasba and roman baths) as a next stop if you are going to visit more of Eastern Tunisia.
Thank you Mr. Subzero for sharing these photos, brings back good memories.
