It seems that someone in the Arab media messed up big time and fell with the Genpet hoax. This is a shot of the Lebanese Al Hayat newspaper, published on the 19th of July. It was followed by two other publications Al Oum magazine (Lebanese) and AlGhad newspaper (Jordanian)

Pathetic, and very scary! Journalism has lost respect for itself. Background check on a story is non existent as this fiasco shows. But this is a terrible trend that’s escalating in Arab journalism – they don’t seem to feel a sense of responsibility and don’t realize the disaster they cause with the psyche of readers when they print smtg like this and feed into the confusion. It’s infuriating actually.
The journalists and media that fell for this hoax are idiots! What does it take to google smtg before you distribute it?! ugh!
