Ingredients: Basic bread dough 1 pound ground beef or lamb 2 diced onions. Salt ,pepper & Allspice 1 Tablespoon Cardamom 3 tablespoons tomato paste Oil 1/2 cup pine nuts Directions: 1- Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Combine meat, onions, and seasonings and cook with little oil until browned fully 2- There are few things that you can add to the meat to flavor it even more, such as adding yogurt or pomegranate molasses or Tihini sauce or tomato sauce. I added tomato paste and mixed it well. 3- Add the pine nuts 4- Cut the dough out to form about 3-4" rounds. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes. 5- Place some of the meat filling onto the dough 6- Place on an oiled baking sheet for and bake at 450 degrees for about 15 minutes. But depending on your oven it might take less or more time
thanx for the recipes summer and huda.. that should give me something else to cook at home other then pasta!
and loved the prince background song..lol
Rehab, thanks for your comment. I put them close to each other in the pan so not to waste any space, they will not stick together at all since i oil the pan and the dough is already oiled enough.
When i am in the states i use the ready dough because it is convenient and easy…i just do not have much time to make my own and it is available everywhere.
Thanks for coming by.
George, Thanks for your comment.
this is the only way i know how to make sfeeha, by cooking the meat first then bake it. i never make it with raw meat but it sounds good the way you describe it…i should try it sometime.
I know it has been a while since i posted my cooking video, i am in the middle of a moving from one country to another and i hardly have time to maintain my videos :( i miss it…also, i decided to post my videos the same time i post my recipes on my cooking blog at http://mimicooks.com
check it out! ;)
have a wonderful evening.
Sfeeha sounds good today! ( although I’m not cooking today allhamduellah) But i’ve been looking for a good sfeeha recipe and this one looks good I should try it one day (but w/home made dough I’m not a fan of ready dough). But Why were they so close together in the pan? does it givethe sides a more color this way? Thanks Summer :)
It has been some time Summer :)
This is the first time that i see sfeeha with cooked meat, i have to try it. Of course there are so many ways to do la7m b3ajeen, my favorite two are: Armenian (has to be spicy as well) and sfee7a with vinegar. I’m drooling already!
Thanks for the recipe
Huda, thanks for your comment.
i have never made sfeeha with raw meat before…i want to but i am afraid it would not turn out good…thanks for your recipe, always good to know how others cook it. i will try it one day soon!
i have tried it with many other ingredients such as yogurt, tahinah, dibbs rumman but not with garlic, i am not a fan of garlic much :)
Have a great day!
thanks summer.i tried once sfeeha with cooked meat the way u did it it tasted great but i always use raw meat, with small diced tomatoes, inions, lemon juice, teheeneh, laban(yogurt) spices and salt,i taste the mixture before adding the meat then i marinate meat one night before making sfeeha(this way it is half cooked chemically) the next day i put the meat mixture in the sieve remove excess fluids add little oil or ghee and place it on the dough with pinenuts.try it
