The McLaren Formula One team is rich in heritage, having been formed in 1963 by New Zealander Bruce McLaren. The team scored their first race win in 1968, when Bruce McLaren piloted a McLaren – Ford to victory. The team has won four consecutive Driver’s and Constructor’s Championships (1988-1992) and secured eight Constructor’s World Championship titles, the first of which was in 1974. Today the team has a record of : 11 Driver’s World Championship titles, and 8 Constructor’s World Championships. In 1994 McLaren joined Mercedes-Benz for a long term relationship with Mercedes slowly emerging as the owner of the team. Finnish racing driver Mika Hakkinen won the Formula One championship with McLaren-Mercedes in 1998, and again in 1999. This McLaren MP4/15 was Hakkinen’s Formula One car in the 2000 season, Its 3.0 liter V10 engine propelled it to 2nd place in the 2000 Formula One championship. This racing car is on loan to the Museum by Mercedes Benz Classic Center in Stuttgart, Germany. It is the first ever Formula One racing car to be seen in Jordan.
it is amazing to know about these cars, the engines are so small, i mean 3000cc and it goes so fast! i heard the weight of the car is less than 800 kilos!
